Tokyo Ghoul Filler List follows the daily life of Ken Kaneki, an ordinary university student until a violent encounter turns him into the first half-human half-ghoul hybrid. His newfound status gives him new powerful and dangerous abilities, and he soon finds himself kept in the dark by ghoul investigators who want to extract information from him. As Kaneki struggles to survive, he must also learn how to adapt and adjust his newly acquired taste for human flesh.

Tokyo Ghoul Filler List -Episodes 1-12

Episode 3:

This episode occurs just after Ken was attacked by Rize Kamishiro, the girl having ‘dinner’ with him when he collapsed from exhaustion during a walk home from work. In this episode, we see Shuu Tsukiyama having another ‘meal’ before being interrupted by Uta.

Episode 7:

This filler episode is a recap of episodes 1 – 6 which shows what has happened so far in the anime before introducing the audience to the new characters who will be playing a more important part in upcoming episodes.

Episode 10:

This episode takes place just before Ken finally meets his mother and follows him into her room where they share an emotional moment together. (Note that this is not the same as Episode 12 which features both Shuu and Kaneki having dinner with Rize’s parents).

Episode 11:

This filler episode is another recap of past events, but focuses on Akira Mado and her friendship with both Hideyoshi Nagachika and Touka Kirishima (who is revealed to be Maiko’s daughter) when she was younger.

Tokyo Ghoul Filler List -Episodes 13-24

(The following episodes may contain spoilers)

Episode 13:

This episode follows Marude as he speaks with Hinami’s mother who reveals that they have been investigating the disappearance of Ryouko Fueguchi and her daughter Hinami from Anteiku. Meanwhile, Ui discovers a clue about Ryouko’s location and plans a trip with Amon to investigate it. As they leave on their investigation, a mysterious man appears behind them holding a pair of severed fingers inside a jar that contains Ryouko’s ring–the same one that was given to her by Touka.

Episode 14:

This filler episode takes place just after Amon tries to act professional around his superior Hiromi while visiting Ryouko’s apartment where she was last seen before she disappeared. Upon arrival, they discover Ryouko’s son Ayato Fueguchi and Touka Kirishima who reveals that her mother has gone missing. Both investigators find it odd that Touka knew exactly where to look for her mother as she tells them not to worry about her. Later, Amon visits the Tsukiyama family estate with Itsuki Marude where they notice a strange smell coming from one of the rooms which belongs to Yomo.

Episode 15:

This filler episode follows Hinami as she reads a book: before being joined by both Shuu and Kaneki who wish to speak with Uta over an upcoming expedition mission which could potentially reveal more hidden B rated ghouls within Tokyo. During their conversation, Uta refuses to reveal who the other participants of the expedition areas he tells them to find out for themselves.

Episode 16:

This episode takes place before Uta, Shuu, and Kaneki head out on their expedition as they visit a local coffee shop where Uta orders a ‘coffee’ for himself and tricks Shuu into also drinking it by casually mentioning Shuu’s sister whose name is Ai. The scene then switches to Touka and Yomo who meet up with members of Anteiku at re until Uta, Kaneki and Shuu arrive together where they explain the reasoning behind their absence during recent expeditions which were meant to search for Ryouko Fueguchi.

Episode 17:

This episode follows Ayato as he catches a runaway baby -the child of a woman who recently died in the hospital- and uses his excellent tracking skills to return it back to its mother. A few days later, Ayato is confronted by investigators Kuramoto and Ippei Kusaba when he saves Hinami from them after they witness her eating live rabbits with the rest of her family. The two investigators then reveal their secret weapons which happen to be Ryouko Fueguchi and Touka Kirishima who willingly join up with Anteiku’s expedition group in order for them to reveal themselves as B-rated ghouls in public.

Episode 18:

This episode follows Touka and Yomo as they continue their conversation at :re about what will happen if Uta finds the B-rated ghoul during their expedition. Akira Mado also makes an appearance at :re where she is shown to have a close relationship with Uta after he reveals his true intentions behind joining the Anteiku group. Later, sometime during Hiromi’s pregnancy, she visits Ryouko Fueguchi in her apartment where they discuss Hinami’s ‘future’ while drinking tea together. After their meeting concludes, both of them are attacked by members of Aogiri Tree who are then confronted by Shuu Tsukiyama who swiftly ends the conflict with only two words.

Episode 19: Tokyo Ghoul Filler List

This filler episode follows Yoshimura as he trains young ghouls at Anteiku including Touka until Kaneki interrupts him which leads to a conversation about the upcoming expedition. Yoshimura then reveals that he is already aware of Touka being responsible for Ryouko’s disappearance in order to join up with Anteiku.

Episode 20:

This episode follows Amon as he investigates a disappearance case involving several children before joining his partner, Akira Mado at the scene where they are both attacked by members of Aogiri Tree which leaves both investigators in shock. After being knocked unconscious, Amon wakes up to find himself in an abandoned warehouse tied down to a chair only to be greeted by Ayato who easily defeats him in combat. Just when it seems like all hope is lost, Kuramoto and Ippei arrive just in time after receiving a tip from Touka revealing her involvement within the incident. After the incident, both investigators discuss what happened during their investigation while Kuramoto reveals that it was Yoshimura who tipped him off about Ayato’s location in order to get Amon back on track with his investigations.

Episode 21: Tokyo Ghoul Filler List

This episode follows Hinami as she spends her time at Anteiku after Yomo leaves for another expedition. Meanwhile, Touka pays a visit to Ryouko Fueguchi where they happen to run into Tsukiyama who is accompanied by Hide at the time -the two ghouls following him- whom manage to distract both ghouls long enough for Tsukiyama to kidnap Ryouko under the guise of retrieving ‘dinner’. Just before leaving however, Touka manages to catch up to Tsukiyama in order to retrieve Ryouko from his grasp which prompts the both of them to clash during their battle.

Episode 22:

This episode follows Nishiki as he arrives at a nearby hospital in order to provide a patient with a special organ modification surgery in exchange for some cash under false pretenses involving his family’s medical history. After completing the job, Nishiki is stopped by members of Aogiri Tree who attempt to kidnap him until Touka Kirishima shows up and rescues him from danger. The two ghouls then begin their fight against one another which results in Touka ending up victorious after severing her opponent’s kagune while leaving him alive on top of a roof -only to be found by Kaneki’s group. Near the end of the episode, Nishiki is seen leaving a bar while talking to Uta about who should become his next partner in order to pair up with him from time to time and also speaks about ‘playing hooky’ from Anteiku in order for things concerning his work to remain secretive.

Episode 23:

This filler episode follows Yoshimura as he meets with Kanae at Anteiku to reveal that he has been hiding information regarding the B-rated ghoul all along by giving her photographs of Hinami’s parents during their youth -which were taken when they worked together long ago-. Just when Yoshimura reveals even more photos depicting both Ryouko Fueguchi and Arata Kirishima working together, both investigators are attacked by members of Aogiri Tree. This leaves Kanae in a state of shock while Yoshimura escapes without much trouble -after taking care of the attackers himself- which prompts her to head back home only to realize that Hinami has already left for Cochlea, thus she decides to hunt down Hinami’s mother in order to learn the truth about the lost Fueguchi family member.

Episode 25: Tokyo Ghoul Filler List

This episode follows Kaneki as he speaks with Touka Kirishima about current events related to their lives after being released from Cochlea. During their discussion however, Tsukiyama interrupts them when he brings up news about Hinami leaving Anteiku which prompts Touka and Kaneki to visit the only address they have of Hinami’s location. During their investigation, Touka and Kaneki happen upon Ryouko Fueguchi whom is later revealed to be both Hinami’s mother as well as Ayato’s former partner from his days back with Aogiri Tree. In response, Ayato arrives on scene but chooses not attack Root A members since his main goal was simply finding Hinami -not going after her parents-. Just before leaving however, Touka manages to catch up with him in order to stop him from getting away while assuring him that she will receive a proper apology from Hinami herself which convinces Ayato enough to leave peacefully.

Episode 26:

This episode follows Nishio as he goes out on patrol after seeing the damage done by the Aogiri Tree group. After taking down several members of Aogiri, he runs into Koori Ui whom is accompanied by his squad -with orders to take Nishio in- while both investigators end up fighting one another shortly afterwards. During their skirmish however, the hounds under Kanae’s control arrive within the vicinity prompting Nishio to speak with her about an agreement to trade Rize for Akira Mado whom she has captured during this time. The episode ends as Touka arrives at Anteiku only to realize that Hinami is not there -leaving her worried now more than ever-.

Episode 27: Tokyo Ghoul Filler List

This filler episode follows Tsukiyama as he meets with someone within a cafe where they talk about why he has entered the 20th ward and search for Hinami. Later, Tsukiyama is seen panicking while speaking with Naki -who thinks that Aogiri was responsible- about what to do now that Rize has escaped during this time. Near the end of the episode, both Touka and Nishio who are looking for Hinami nearby arrive at Tsukiyama’s location upon learning what happened from Shuu himself; only to find out that her father had no idea either.

Episode 28:

This filler episode takes place after Kaneki’s fight against Kouto in order to learn more information regarding how many people know about his involvement with Anteiku. While sitting at the lone table in his room, Kaneki notices Touka’s arrival with Take which prompts him to ask her about what happened to Hinami. Later on, both investigators learn that Hinami has once again left Anteiku -with Tsukiyama- during this time. This leaves Nishio and Touka slightly concerned but not enough to go after them just yet as they leave instead for their respective homes.

Episode 29: Tokyo Ghoul Filler List

This filler episode follows Amon as he returns home where he finds out from his mother that Akira is no longer staying there anymore due to the fact she now lives with Arima whom has survived up until now. During Amon’s discussion with his mother however, Matsuri Washuu arrives with orders to take her away -believing her to be a ghoul- while the rest of the CCG investigators are out dealing with Kanae. As Matsuri prepares to fight, Amon attempts to intervene but ends up being overwhelmed by the other’s quinque -leaving his mother fatally injured-. While Matsuri is preoccupied with beating Amon however, she turns around just in time for Akira to appear on scene and take out her quinque before knocking her out completely -saving Amon’s life-.

Episode 30:

This filler episode follows Nishiki as he goes over current events within the ward that have been occurring now that he has returned after an eight year disappearance. Later on however, Naki calls him through their channel revealing that Aogiri Tree now seems to be targeting members of the 11th ward -forcing Nishiki to fight against Naki himself in order to protect them-. After the battle, both investigators convince Nishiki not to continue fighting and work with their group instead which leaves him troubled by this decision.

Episode 31: Tokyo Ghoul Filler List

This filler episode follows Juuzou Suzuya as he goes over his past regarding Yoshimura, Touka, and Ayato prior to meeting Kaneki; along with his current state of living within the 13th ward at Anteiku’s cafe. During this time, Juuzou recalls a major case that has been ongoing dealing directly with the Tsukiyama family whom was once responsible for wiping out most of the Arima clan years ago. As such, this major case has come to involve Juuzou -who also takes time to visit Arima’s grave-, the CCG, and Tsukiyama whom is now working with them. During his first encounter, he nearly kills him but after being saved by Kanae who was ordered by Shuu not to harm Juuzou, both end up talking before departing separate ways.

After much discussion, they agree to have a formal meeting after work at. An appointed location where everyone is asked to bring something in order to form a meal together. During the dinner, Banjou suggests forming a group name for them all which leaves. Takizawa uncomfortable since the CCG now knows about him. Later on during this time, both Kuramoto and Nishiki notice that several investigators are now roaming around near where they are -posing as customers. Before being abducted by Investigator Sasaki whom forces them into combat against Koutarou. Amon under suspicion of them working together due to. Kuramoto’s past affiliation with Nishiki -putting the half-ghoul on edge-.

Episode 36: Tokyo Ghoul Filler List

This filler episode follows Touka Kirishima as she goes over her past. And how she became acquainted with Yomo and Uta along with their group known as “The Inquisitors”. During this time, Touka recalls meeting both of them during a celebration for. Hinami gaining more strength to walk again which left her impressed by Yomo’s fighting ability. As such, she wished to join his group but he declined due to knowing. She was actually a ghoul working within. Anteiku leaving her confused by this decision. Later on however after learning more about Hinami and her situation from Kaneki. She returns where Uta finally agrees to let her join them -adding another member to the group-.

Episode 37:

This filler episode follows Hinami Fueguchi as she goes over her past and how she came to know of Akira. Mado whom was not well known within the 20th ward. While taking care of an abandoned cat. Hinami is visited by Akira who has arrived in order to ask for information regarding Ryouko Fueguchi’s whereabouts. As such. Hinami tells her everything about Aogiri Tree along with what occurred during their encounter until. Sasaki appeared to rescue them both. After much discussion, Akira decides to help Hinami find. Touka whom had left without telling anyone where she was going which leaves. Hinami relieved that someone could now watch over her sister.

Episode 38: Tokyo Ghoul Filler List

This filler episode follows Renji Yomo as he goes over his past alongside. Touka and the others whom were living within the 24th ward at that time. Later on however during another meeting with Akira, she tells him about Touka now living in the 20th ward; causing Touka to return home where both families reconcile their differences -ending their own feud-.

Episode 39:

This filler episode follows Nishiki Nishio as he goes over past life before joining Kanou’s group. Revealing his past as a former member of the Inquisitors. Afterwards, both go their separate ways until they later on. Reunite together again and form the Inquisitors along with Touka and Hinami. Forming an anti-human group that killed many investigators in secret.

Episode 40: Tokyo Ghoul Filler List

This filler episode follows Juuzou Suzuya as he goes over his past alongside. Hanbee Abara whom were originally part of S3 Squad under Kureo Mado until the latter’s death. During this time, Juuzou recalls meeting Banjou -revealing how Banjou taught him everything about being an investigator. Which led to them both becoming part of Suzuya Squad. However during one operation, Abara becomes wounded after protecting Suzuya from Kimi Nishino whom was now a kakuja ghoul; leaving the squad as a whole to worry about his well being. Eventually, after much needed time of recovery. He joins another squad under Mougan Tanakamaru where both work together within the 20th ward to continue their objective.
